For Emergency Care Call 911

Ballston Lake EMS would like to proudly congratulate Susan Desbiens on being recognized by Mary Beth Walsh as a 2026 Woman of Distinction.

Sue’s decades of dedication to public service, emergency communications, and emergency medical services have left a lasting impact on countless individuals throughout the Capital Region. Her career began with New York State service in 1978 before transitioning into emergency dispatching for the City of Schenectady, where she spent years coordinating critical police, fire, and EMS responses and assisting the public during emergencies.

In addition to her professional career, Sue has remained deeply committed to volunteer emergency services. Since becoming an EMT in 1989 with the East Glenville Volunteer Fire Department, she has consistently demonstrated an extraordinary level of dedication to her community. Even today, she continues serving the public through her work with Ballston Lake EMS while remaining active in the fire service.

Assemblywoman Walsh highlighted Sue’s remarkable public service career spanning more than 38 years, along with her continued commitment to emergency response and community involvement. Most notably, Sue ranked among the top responders within her department for many years and was recognized as the number one responder in 2025 with more than 450 calls answered.

Sue exemplifies the professionalism, compassion, and selflessness that define the EMS and public safety professions. We are honored to have her as part of our team and grateful for the experience, mentorship, and dedication she brings to our organization every day.

Please join us in congratulating Susan Desbiens on this well-deserved recognition and thanking her for a lifetime of service to our communities.
