About Ballston Lake EMS
History and Mission/Vision
Founded in 1951, Ballston Lake EMS (BLEMS) has proudly served the Ballston Lake and surrounding communities for more than 70 years. What began as a small group of dedicated volunteers with a single ambulance and a simple mission—to help their neighbors in times of need—has grown into a respected EMS agency recognized for its clinical excellence, strong community ties, and tradition of service.
In the early years, BLEMS relied on the commitment and determination of local residents who answered calls at all hours, balancing family, work, and volunteer service. Their efforts laid the foundation for an organization built on teamwork, compassion, and reliability. Over time, BLEMS expanded both its capabilities and its reach, responding to the growing needs of the community while maintaining the spirit of neighbor-to-neighbor care.
Today, BLEMS responds to over 1,600 calls each year, providing both basic and advanced emergency medical care, safe hospital transport, and proactive community health services. Our members are highly trained professionals and volunteers who carry forward the same values of service and dedication that defined our earliest days.
What sets BLEMS apart is not just our emergency response, but our deep connection to the community. From school outreach programs to health screenings, local event standbys, and lifesaving classes, BLEMS continues to invest in the well-being of the people we serve.
As we look toward the future, we remain guided by the same principle that inspired our founding in 1951: “Neighbors Helping Neighbors.”
